Who we are

This website is run by the Sri Lanka–Thailand Society (“SLTS”, “we”, “us”). Our website address is https://slthai.org.

We do not sell anything through this website, and we do not sell, rent or trade anyone’s personal information.

If you have any question about this policy, or about information we hold, please contact us at info@slthai.org.

What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal information this website collects, why we collect it, who else can see it, and what you can ask us to do about it.

What we collect

When you use our contact form

If you fill in the contact form, we collect the name, email address, subject and message you enter.

We use this only to read and reply to your enquiry.

Your submission is not stored in this website’s database and is not sent to any third-party form service. It is delivered to us as an email, and it then lives in our mailboxes like any other email we receive.

Information collected automatically

Our web host keeps standard server logs. These record the IP address of each visitor, the date and time, the page requested and the browser’s user agent. These logs are created by the hosting platform for security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention.

What we do not do

We think it is as important to say what we do not do:

  • We use no analytics or tracking. This site does not run Google Analytics or any equivalent. We do not measure, profile or follow your browsing.
  • We set no cookies on ordinary visitors. Browsing this site does not place any cookie on your device.
  • We run no advertising, no advertising networks and no social media tracking pixels.
  • This website does not accept public comments, so we do not collect commenter names, email addresses or IP addresses.
  • We do not create visitor accounts, and we do not take payments on this website.
  • We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling.

Where your information is stored

This website and its email are hosted on servers operated by our hosting provider. Backups of the website are taken weekly and are kept on that same hosting account. Enquiry emails are held in our mailboxes.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries from the contact form: we keep the email for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry and to keep a record of our correspondence, and in any case no longer than 24 months, unless you are in ongoing contact with us.
  • Server logs: kept for the period set by our hosting provider, typically a few weeks.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you,
  • give you a copy of it,
  • correct it if it is wrong,
  • delete it, or
  • stop using it.

Write to info@slthai.org and we will respond. We may need to ask you to confirm your identity first, so that we do not disclose someone else’s information by mistake.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.

Keeping your information safe

This site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. We limit administrative access to the website, and we use login protection to resist automated attacks. No website can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable care.

Children

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we change how this website handles personal information, we will update this page and change the “last updated” date at the top.
